Memorial Services

Funeral Grief

Next Memorial Service

On the fourth Sunday of each month we hold a Service of Recollection and Thanksgiving at All Hallows Church at 6.30pm in the evening.

In this service we remember by name those who have recently died, and also those the anniversary of whose death falls that month.  We pray for them and for those who are grieving.

We light a candle for them and place it on the altar as a symbol of love and hope and remembrance, and also as a sign of our continued prayer for them.

Candles on the altar following a memorial service

We are very happy to remember people by name at any memorial service you would like to attend.  Please let us know.

For the date of the next memorial service please see the Diary.

A prayer of recollection and thanksgiving:

Eternal God I remember ........ before you

with tears and with love.

I remember the times we laughed

       and the times we wept,

I remember all that we went through together,

and I give thanks for everything ........ was

and for everything we shared together.

And now I am on my own.

And trusting that ........ is safe with you

I ask your comfort and strength,

your company and your encouragement

to help me face each day as it comes.  Amen.

There are a number of on-line memorial spaces.  Try, for example, gates of remembrance.
