BELL RINGERS ANNUAL REPORT 2008Members: Mrs C Stevens, Mr H Verco, Mrs B Farrar, Mrs D Moore & Mr L Storey. During the last year we have rung for weddings, Divine service, practice nights and sadly for a funeral. We appreciate our regular supports from Clarborough, Saxilby, Everton, Mattersey & Tuxford, whom without we would on some practice nights, not be able to practice. We’ve had several visiting ringers this year, Northumberland and the second group from New York U.S.A, who thoroughly enjoyed their visit to our quaint little English church. We were again privileged to host the ‘Tea Pot Trophy’ striking competition in September, although we did not enter a team ourselves. It was very satisfying when our fellow ringers from St Michaels, West Retford won, fighting off five other towers to carry off the silver tea pot. We are always looking to recruit new ringers and would welcome any enquiries, whether it be purely out of interest or with desire to learn the art. Once again it is time to write the bellringers’ annual report. During the last year we have rung for weddings, divine service, practice nights and sadly for a funeral. We have also welcomed visitors and greatly appreciate our regular supports from Clarborough, Saxilby, Everton & Mattersey. As a team we have also been able to assist the newly formed band of ringers at St Michaels, West Retford for weddings. As participants within the Southwell Diocesan Guild of Church Bellringers we are part of a much wider picture. Bellringing, in its English form has now become a world wide pastime. There is no exclusivity, anyone can join, and would be most welcomed. Diane Moore, Tower Captain [Notice Board] [Services]
